Kayla's first Thankgiving was fantastic. She isn't a fan of eating her cereal just yet, but let me tell you, when the pie and cream came out, she was like "give me the spoon".

Kayla had her first three shots today. Who do you think the brave one was? Kayla was amazing, although we both cried. The comment from the Dr. was, "Don't worry Mrs. Saelens, we have Kleenex for the mothers". By that time, I was contemplating giving the pediatrician something to cry about!

Kayla’s Dutch Heritage

Today we took Kayla’s first passport pictures for both her US Passport and her EU Passport, they are simply ADORABLE. She was so cute, she couldn’t stop smiling and talking, she doesn’t like to miss anything (smile). When you need them to smile, they don’t. But when you need them to just be still for 30 seconds, you’ve got to be kidding. Kayla is getting her Mama’s Dutch heritage, which we’re really excited about.

Today she received her own pair of personalized original Dutch Klompe(shoes) with her name and birthday engraved (very special) from my family in Holland. She also received a book of personalized blessings from the whole family, something which is a family tradition.

She also received her origianl Delft teething cloth, it's absolutely beautiful. My family were so thoughtful in the gifts that they sent to Kayla, such a wonderful blessing.

I'm so proud of my daughter's Dutch & American heritage - it's what you call having your bread buttered on both sides.

Labor Day Weekend

This weekend was Labor Day Weekend. Grandma and aunt Amanda came and spent the weekend with us and grandma got to bath Kayla for the first time which was totally enjoyable. Uncle Tony, aunt Nicole, cousins Lexi and Brendan all came over for Sunday lunch which was great. Uncle Tony and Lexi got to go kayaking on our lake but daddy said Kayla was to young for kayaking right now and so she got as far as having her picture taken in the kayak on the grass (as if that's by any means the same as in the water). I don't know who was more hungry, uncle Jim or Brendan (see picture below). Jon and Karen Fluetsch came by which was so much fun and Karen got to feed Kayla. Our little Kayla is such an angel.

Finally, Kayla's last piece of her umbilical cord came off. Now it's time for her first bath, she loved it.
